How the purchase works

Pro is bought through Google Play as a one-time in-app purchase. After a purchase, Dixel confirms it and unlocks the Pro features. Restore Purchase in Settings brings Pro back on a new device or after a reinstall. A verified Pro entitlement keeps working offline for 14 days between checks.

Projects that are over the free limits

If a project is larger than the free limits — because it came from a backup, a Pro device, or a lapsed Pro entitlement — it opens read-only on the free tier. You can still view, pan, zoom, toggle layer visibility, and export a 1× PNG. Drawing and editing prompt to upgrade. Dixel never shrinks or alters the project to make it fit.

An animated project (more than one frame) also opens read-only on the free tier. It shows the first frame and you cannot switch frames, but you can play the animation. The 1× PNG export (and the 1× Layers export) saves the first frame. The file is never changed. Every animated export — GIF, animated PNG, video, sprite sheet, and frame sequence — is Pro. Add frame and Duplicate frame open the Pro screen. See Animation.

On the free tier you can also:

  • open the first frame of an animated GIF or APNG as a still image, with Open image in the gallery;
  • Duplicate projects in the gallery;
  • use the All / Animations tabs and see the frame badge on animated projects.
