Backup and restore
Dixel is local-first: your projects live on your device and nothing is uploaded unless you turn backup on.
Turning on Drive backup
In Settings → Backup, switch backup on. Dixel asks only for permission to its own private Google Drive folder — not your whole Drive, and not your profile, email, or contacts. Once enabled, Dixel uploads a copy of each project after you edit it, in the background.
Options:
- Wi-Fi only — restrict uploads to unmetered networks.
- Back up now — queue every project immediately.
Each project is backed up as a single self-contained file, so the reference images embedded in it ride along.
Restoring
In Settings → Backup → Restore, Dixel lists the projects in your Drive folder. Pick the ones to bring back. A restore never overwrites local work: if a project with the same name is already on the device, the restored copy comes in renamed. Damaged backups are skipped rather than imported.
Turning it off
Turning backup off stops new uploads and leaves both your local projects and the existing Drive copies untouched. A separate option can delete the Drive copies if you want a clean slate; your local projects are never affected.
What is not backed up
Undo history is in memory only and is never stored — not on device and not in a backup. Autosave keeps at most your last stroke, so a crash costs at most one stroke of work.
